Sea erosion, study & restoration

Sea surge in the Bay of Bengal left its mark on the beaches of Visakhapatnam. The ingress began on the New Year eve and the erosion was severe. The beach road near the Kursura Museum was scoured and a part of the road too caved in, dampening the spirit of the New Year celebrations as it came soon after Hudhud. The sea washed away a major portion of the Submarine Museum and adding to the scare was the pavement adjacent to it getting washed away. To protect the Beach Road the civic authorities stacked boulders and poured rubble to fill the breach. The Hindu photographers K.R. Deepak and C.V. Subrahmanyam capture developments.
