Saadhana Committee members demand railway zone

Members of the Visakha Railway Zone Saadhana Committee met the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways T.R. Baalu during his visit to the city on Wednesday and submitted representations to him seeking the establishment of a separate zone with Visakhapatnam as headquarters.

They told him that the highest revenue earning Division in the entire zone was being given a raw deal and said establishment of a new zone was the only solution to the injustice being meted out to it.

They told him that two crore people of north Andhra region were aspiring for the zone.

The committee members who met Mr. Baalu are: Devarakonda Markandeyulu (Communist Party of India), Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar (Telugu Desam Party) and T. Subbarami Reddy and Cheruvu Ramakotaiah (Bharatiya Janata Party).

Employees' plea

East Coast Railway Shramik Congress has submitted a memorandum to Mr T.R. Baalu seeking a solution to the problems of the Railway employees working in Waltair Division in general and Electric Loco Shed and Diesel Loco Shed in particular.

The demands include filling of vacant posts, proper maintenance of the loco sheds, augmentation of infrastructure facilities in Waltair Division and filling up the backlog posts of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tibes, according toEast Coast Railway Shramik Congress Divisional Coordinator V.J. Ajay Kumar.
