The RTC employees' agitation did not have any impact on the attendance of candidates at the Andhra Pradesh Engineering Agriculture Medical Common Examination Test (EAMCET) 2015 in the city on Friday.
The candidates made their own arrangements and turned up at the examination centres well in advance. Some had reached the examination centres as early as 7 a.m. and the outstation candidates appearing for medical stream reached the centres on Friday morning itself.
Auto drivers made the most of the situation charging double the normal fares from students going to exam centres.
According to initial reports there was a turnout of 95 per cent of the 17,000 candidates appearing for engineering stream at the examination centres and the district administration showed leniency allowing candidates who reached up to 15 minutes late. Some of the candidates had turned up bringing only their hall tickets and they were allowed inside.
The palpable tension among the candidates and their parents affected the last-minute preparations outside the hall.
The candidates were not aware of the alternate bus facility organised by the Government due to which some eight or nine buses remained unutilised at the Payakaraopeta Tahsildar office.
In the Agency areas the bus service was provided from the mandal headquarters and students from interior villages reached the mandal headquarters on cycles and other private transport and from there utilised the alternate transport facility provided by the Government.
