Following the success of talks between trade unions and State ministers in Hyderabad that ended the one-week long strike by APSRTC employees, APSRTC resumed its services from around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, bringing a great relief to the people who suffered due to absence of regular buses and were forced to pay exorbitant fares to auto drivers and private buses all these days.

Some APSTRC buses operated by the management with the help of temporary drivers and conductors, failed to meet the demand and passengers alleged that high fare was collected from them. Students appearing for the AP EAMCET 2015 on May 8 had gone through anxious time due to the strike so also the candidates who appeared for the TET-TRT for three days from May 9. Members of the APSRTC trade unions celebrated the success of talks as the State Government and RTC management agreed to grant 43 per cent fitment.

APSRTC operates 1030 buses in the district, including 650 city buses in Visakhapatnam city. The average daily income is Rs. 1 lakh and most of it was lost due to the week-long strike.
