Commissioner of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation B. Ramanjaneyulu on Saturday urged building owners to remove encroachments in cellars voluntarily.

Any violations in cellar would not be tolerated and they would be removed for certain, he said, while warning the owners that they would be responsible for any loss incurred during removal of such structures.

The GVMC had been urging owners to remove encroachments in cellars since the past one year, he pointed out.

The police had also made similar appeals since the last couple of years keeping in view traffic issues, he recalled and said cellar portion should be utilised for parking vehicles to control traffic and prevent accidents.
