As part of the national cleanliness campaign, the State government has rolled out an ambitious programme to lay 25,000 km of cement concrete roads in the villages, Panchayat Raj Minister Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu said.
Laying the foundation stone for CC roads in Narsipatnam constituency on Gandhi Jayanti on Friday, he said that to begin with the Government planned to lay CC roads in two villages in every mandal. He laid the foundation stone for CC roads at YD Peta village at Marripalem panchayat in Nathavaram mandal and launched a solar-power based drinking water supply system in Pesarada and Suddapalam villages Golugonda mandal. He also gave away pensions and bank linkages to members of woman SHGs.
Over the next four years the Government plans to lay 25000 km CC roads in the villages at an estimated cost of Rs. 8,000 crore, 50 per cent would come from Finance Commission funds and balance from MNREGS funds, he explained. The Department has allocated Rs. 7 crore for roads in the district, he added.
The Government planned to establish garbage dumping yards in each of the 859 mandal headquarters in the State by December end.
