Police Commissioner reveals modus operandi in drug bust case

The four persons -- B. Narendra Babu alias Vicky from the Tadigadapa area of Vijayawada, his girl friend M. Sitha alias Siri, Ch. Raju, and V. Venkata Rao from Visakhapatnam city -- who were arrested on Wednesday at Lalitha Colony in the Dabagardens area for possessing substantive drugs -- used to procure the contraband from various cities in exchange of ganja, Police Commissioner R.K. Meena told the media here on Thursday.

The police produced the seized one gram of methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA) powder, two pieces of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) blots, 30 alprazolam tablets, and ganja packets before the media.

Explaining the modus operandi of the gang, the CP said that with the help of Ch. Raju and V. Venkata Rao, the main accused, B. Narendra Babu, procures ganja from Visakhapatnam Agency and sells it to smugglers at Bengaluru and Goa.

In return, he gets LSD and MDMA, which he sells to youth in Vijayawada, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, the CP said.

Link to rave party?

The Police Commissioner also said that that as part of the investigation, they were trying to establish connection between this drug racket and the Rushikonda rave party case which was busted on April 14, 2019.

“Narendra Babu is the main accused in this case. But during the Rushikonda rave party case, he was in jail. However, we are trying to find out if Ch. Raju or V. Venkata Rao has any role,” Mr. Meena said.

It may be recalled that Narendra Babu, an engineering graduate, was arrested in a drug abuse case in the limits of Hennuru Police Station in Bengaluru and was sent to remand for nine months. After being released on bail in July 2019, he came to Siri’s house in Visakhapatnam with MDMA tablets.

Raju and Venkata Ramana, who are drug peddlers from Visakhapatnam joined them. All the four were selling drugs, targeting youth and students.
