CPI activists burning an effigy in protest against the Kirit Parikh Committee's recommendations on gas cylinders at Jagadamba Junction in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.

CPI city unit on Thursday protested at Jagadamba Junction opposing the Kirit Parikh recommendations that price of LPG refill be increased by Rs.250, diesel and kerosene by Rs.5 and Rs.4 a litre respectively and reducing the number of subsidised cylinders from nine to six.

Opposing imposing further burden on common people in the name of reducing fuel subsidy bill, the party expressed the fear that the increase in diesel would further push up the price of other commodities and RTC and railway fares.

Party district secretary J. V. Satyanarayana Murthy, city secretary J. V. Prabhakar, assistant secretary M. Paidiraju, A. J. Stalin and A. P. Mahila Samakhya district secretary A. Vimala participated.
