For most people who usually rise with the lark, the daily fitness regime is a constitutional part of their life. But there are some who can’t afford to lose out on their day’s workout and yet are apprehensive to step out of homes, bogged down by the soaring heat and high humidity – the typical bane of fitness freaks in summer. Coming to their rescue is a team of dedicated yoga experts who are available on a call to provide customised yoga at home. According to yoga experts the demand for yoga classes at home has been growing in the city, especially during the peak summers.

Spotting this trend, yoga trainer B. Naveen has started home tuitions for yoga in the city. His team consists of five certified trainers who visit homes to conduct an hour-long yoga session in various colonies. The yoga programmes range from general fitness, power yoga, weight loss regimes, enhancing memory power for children and kriyas. “In yoga institutes, a typical class consists of 20 to 30 people. It is difficult to give special attention to each individual. Home yoga classes focus on specialised care and yogasanas tailor-made for the individual,” says Naveen and adds that this summer there has been a lot of enquiries for home yoga classes.

Holding a post-graduate diploma in yoga from Andhra University, Naveen has been conducting yoga workshops at Police Barracks for the past two years before branching off to individual classes at home. He conducts home yoga classes at areas such as Zilla Parishad Junction, Maddilapalem, Vishalakshi Nagar and Peda Waltair. For next month, he will be taking home yoga classes at Kirlampudi Layout.

Naveen believes that yoga is a more holistic practice than conventional exercise. He can be contacted at 8886215323 or 8019725091.

Yoga videos

While the concept of ‘yoga at your doorstep’ may be fast gaining popularity in the city, there are very few yoga trainers in the city offering home classes. This has given rise to another curious trend – the ‘do-it-yourself’ (DIY) yoga videos which many fitness enthusiasts follow at home. YouTube yoga videos help to select a suitable programme for individuals. “You do not need to head to a gym or to a fitness centre and can train at home,” says Vinita Ramamoorthy, who practices DIY fitness regime balancing her hectic work schedule.

She adds, “People are running marathons now, inspired by what they see on their social media feed and everyone wants to stay fit. Yoga and fitness videos come as the best help when you are hard-pressed for time or hate going out to fitness classes in the sun.”
