They are popular among students as they are interactive and easy to use

For Siddhesh Kumar Agarwal, a Class IX student, exam days no longer mean monotonous mugging up of textbook chapters and spending sleepless nights tossing in anxiety. He has adopted a new way of preparation — study apps.

As schools and colleges begin their final examinations, more and more students are taking to mobile apps to make preparations interesting.

According to a recent study, students spend 30 per cent of their examination prep time on classroom coaching and almost 70 per cent in self-study. This has led to a spur in the study apps segment, cashing in on the tech-savvy generation and offering them interesting options. Study apps — interactive, easy to use, and helping put all study material in one place — is seen as a platform for learning on the go. The plethora of mathematical formulae no longer troubles Ankita Mohan, a Class XI student. She has found an easier way to keep them handy for quick reference with the Android app, Math Formulae Lite.

“The app lists important formulae and topics in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus in a systematic manner. It is a very convenient app when I am revising, and can check the formulae with a single touch on the phone,” she says.

Digital education solutions company,, has launched an app for students of Class IX called ‘Smartur 3D Quick Study App’ for science and mathematics.

The app is aimed at arming the students appearing for the board examination from March 25 to make the best possible use of the short time available. Based on principles of neuroscience of learning and psychology of motivation, the app has 3D augmented reality technology that helps students study, assimilate, and retain the subject matter in an effective manner.

The app has an interesting feature that provides parents with comprehensive analytics to monitor the progress of their children. The app is currently available on Android devices for free download from Google Playstore as Smartur 3D.

Other study apps popular among students include ‘Human Anatomy’ app, which contains information on 16 biology systems and is suitable for biology students, ‘The Chemical Touch’ app that provides information on the periodic table, ‘Pocket Science’ app designed for Class X CBSE students to make the learning process more engaging through anagrams and crosswords.
