In a commuter-friendly initiative and to put an end to fleecing by autorickshaw and taxi drivers, the traffic police will soon be putting up a tariff chart at RTC Complex, railway station, and airport.
The tariff, fixed by the Road Transport Department, will be printed on flexi boards and prominently displayed at all the three places.
ACP (Traffic) K. Prabhakar told The Hindu that pre-paid booths already exist at the railway station and the airport.
“Such a facility will soon be provided at the bus complex too. The tariff charts will be put up in a few days,” he said.
The chart will display rates to over 150 destinations from focal points.
“Autorickshaw drivers demand over Rs. 200 from tourists from railway station to the Beach Road when the actual fare is just Rs. 60.
“Now, since the rates are fixed, tourists cannot be fleeced,” Mr. Prabhakar said.
