Now, battery-operated cars to ferrypassengers at city railway station


The service will be available round the clock

The Waltair Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR) have introduced paid battery-operated cars to ferry passengers at Visakhapatnam railway station. The service will be available round the clock on an outsourced basis.

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Chetan Kumar Shrivastava inaugurated the facility on Wednesday.

Priority to patients

According to officials of Waltair Division, two battery-operated cars will be available for passengers. Apart from a driver, the car can ferry five persons across the eight platforms at the station. The service can be availed of directly or through online. The officials said that though the service would be available to all the passengers, a priority would be given to senior citizens and patients.

The tariff has been fixed at ₹45 per passenger. The facility will also be made available with toll-free numbers.
