The experience of various industries in and around the city in undertaking various activities under corporate social responsibility (CSR) came up for discussion at a national seminar here on Monday.
The experiences of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, NTPC, HPCL, HSL, Naval Dockyard and other organisations was discussed. A few research studies and papers on the subject were presented in the technical sessions.
RINL Director (Personnel) Y.R. Reddy spoke on industries’ contribution towards CSR. The seminar on ‘Corporate citizen: challenges and responsibilities’ conducted by the Department of Commerce and Management Studies, Andhra University at Platinum Jubilee Guesthouse in association with VSP.
Mr. Reddy explained how RINL was focusing on implementation of CSR programmes in its neighbourhood and elsewhere.
The inaugural session was chaired by AU Dean D. Prabhakara Rao. Board of Studies chairman M. Lakshmipathi Raju, K. Kumar Raja, a local entrepreneur and were present.
AU Registrar V. Umamaheswar Rao presided over the valedictory session. Rector A.V. Prasad Rao, Andhra Bank Deputy General Manager B. Bhaskar Sarma, RINL General Manager (Finance) G.N. Murthy, NTPC DGM V.S. Appaji, RINL Senior Manager Paramata Satyanarayana and others spoke.
