Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu sent a letter congratulating Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju and the whole university community for the institution securing 11{+t}{+h}position among Indian universities and institutions in the ranking given by the Times Higher Education (THE) recently.
Prof. Raju informed at a press conference on Friday that Mr. Naidu sent the congratulatory letter and he was particularly happy that AU secured good position in the Indian and international rankings.
He thanked the State Government for according ‘A’ grade to the university in the rankings the government started giving from this year.
Plans were being made for research projects, he said and added that Union Minster M. Venkaiah Naidu promised to provide help to establish a Centre of Excellence at AU.
The alumni meet held on October 12 was a big success, he said. In just one day, Rs.13.75 crore was promised to the corpus fund and the Chief Minister assured to give a matching grant.
AU is planning to raise a corpus fund of Rs.100 crore in a year’s time and spend the interest on it on the development of the university, Prof. Raju said. AU is entering into MoUs with half-a-dozen foreign universities during the next few weeks.
