Lauding the one-year rule of NDA and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as corruption-free and development-oriented, Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao has said the ruling combine of BJP-TDP has put Visakhapatnam on the international map by including it in the smart city agreement with the US.

Inaugurating a five-day exhibition, organised by DAVP, on the NDA rule titled ‘One-year rule- several beginnings,’ on the Beach Road near Kalimata temple on Tuesday, he said the State was orphaned after bifurcation and got only Rs. 9,000 crore as assistance from the Centre. It needed a whopping Rs.1 lakh crore for building the new capital and the Union government should help it out, he said.

The government had been successful in running Parliament for more days when compared to the previous regimes and also passed several bills, he pointed out. While coal scam accounted for Rs.1 lakh crore and 2G scam for Rs.2 lakh crore during the Congress term, by auction of coal blocks alone, the government got Rs.2 lakh crore, he said.

Railway zone

The exhibition covered about 40 to 45 programmes including flag ship Jan Dhan Yojana, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao highlighting the initiatives of the Modi government that was able to give stable and good governance with a clear mandate after 30 years, the MP said. The BJP-TDP combine also got a separate railway zone for Vizag fulfilling a long-cherished demand.

BJP city unit president P.V. Narayana Rao said the exhibition showcased the government’s efforts to end poverty and initiatives like Swachh Bharat and Mudra Bank for overall development.

Field Exhibition Officer (Andhra and Telangana) of DAVP P. Krishna Vandana said such exhibitions were being organised in all State capitals. Field Publicity Officer M.S. Mahesh was also present.
