More trains cancelled, diverted

Help desks opened at Vizag, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam stations

The railways authorities have cancelled 15 more trains and diverted two trains on Thursday as a precautionary measure in view of the cyclone ‘Fani’.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Waltair Division G. Suneel Kumar said that there could be further cancellations, depending on the situation.

Refunds

Dedicated helpdesks were opened at Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam railway stations to provide information to the public round-the-clock. Passengers can claim full refund on their ticket up to 72 hours after the date of their actual journey. While refunds have to be claimed four hours before the departure of the trains.

“An additional counter has been opened at Visakhapatnam railway station for granting refunds as a huge rush was expected in view of the cancellations. Special trains are being operated from Puri to Howrah to clear the stranded tourists,” Mr. Suneel Kumar said.

Kanniyakumari - Howrah Express (15905) leaving Kanniyakumari on May 2 has been cancelled. The other trains scheduled to leave the originating station on May 3 that have been cancelled include Rourkela - Gunupur Express (18117), Secunderabad – Kamakhya jn. Express (07149) , Santragachi – Chennai Express (02841), Howrah – Yesvantpur Express (12863), Howrah – Chennai Express (12839), Patna– Ernakulam Express (22644), Bhubaneswar – Tirupati Express (22879), Sri Satya Sai Prashanti Nilayam – Howrah Express (22832), Yesvantpur - Howrah Express (12246), Secunderabad - Howrah Express (12704), Bengaluru Cant.-Agarthala Express (12503), Secunderabad - Bhubaneswar Express (17016), Jagdalpur - Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express (18448) and Junagarh Road - Bhubaneswar Express (18438) .

Some trains scheduled to start journey on May 4 have also been cancelled. Those are Bhubaneswar – KSR Bengaluru City Express (18463), Bhubaneswar - Visakhapatnam Express (22819), Bhubaneswar – Secunderabad Express (17015) and Puri – Gandhidham Express (22974).

Amritsar - Visakhapatnam Express (18508) leaving Amritsar on May 1 will run via Sambalpur - Titlagarh – Vizianagaram; Guwahati – Kochivel Express (06335) leaving Guwahati on May 1 via Kharagpur – Jharsguda – Sambalpur-Visakhapatnam and Visakhapatnam - Amritsar Express leaving Visakhapatnam on May 2 via Vizianagaram – Titlagarh – Sambalpur.

Short-termination

Secunderabad - Bhubaneswar Express leaving Secunderabad on May 2 will be short-terminated at Visakhapatnam, while Bhubaneswar - Secunderabad Express (17015) leaving Bhubaneswar on May 3 will be stopped at Visakhapatnam.

The passenger trains leaving the originating station on May 3 have also been cancelled. Those are

Palasa - Gunupur Passenger (58427), Palasa - Visakhapatnam Passenger (58531), Palasa - Visakhapatnam Passenger (58525), Palasa – Vizianagaram Passenger (67282), Vizianagaram - Visakhapatnam Passenger (67293), Gunupur - Visakhapatnam Passenger (58505), Puri - Gunupur Passenger (58417), Visakhapatnam - Gunupur Passenger (58506), Gunupur - Palasa Passenger (58418), Visakhapatnam – Srikakulam Passenger (67294), Srikakulam - Palasa Passenger (67281), Visakhapatnam - Brahmapur Passenger (58526), Visakhapatnam - Palasa Passenger (58532) and Gunupur - Palasa Passenger (58428).
