Chodavaram MLA Karanam Dharmasri on Monday lashed out at the TDP for criticising the YSRCP government over handling of AgriGold depositors’ issue.

Addressing a press conference here, along with party leaders K.K. Raju, Kola Guruvulu and Y. Prem Babu, he said instead of praising Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for coming to the rescue of depositors by distributing them ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 from government funds, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh were levelling baseless allegations against the government.

He justified the charge made by Speaker Tammineni Sitharam that TDP did nothing to give relief to the victims of AgriGold and said the Chief Minister had allotted ₹220 crore for distribution to the victims on humanitarian grounds. He said they were giving the amount to small depositors first whereas the TDP when it was in power had tried to grab the properties of AgriGold.
