Metro DPR ready

The Detailed Project Report for Metro Rail for the city being prepared the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is almost ready. The report is now given final vetting by the DMRC.

After a final look by Advisor to the Andhra Pradesh Government E. Sreedharan, it will be submitted to the State government, probably in the next couple of weeks, say sources. Work on preparation of DPRs and the related surveys began in the second week of January.

Metro Rail is proposed on three corridors totalling 42 km. The longest corridor, proposed from Madhurawada to Gajuwaka, runs 31.2 km. Though initially the corridor was proposed from Madhurawada to NAD, the Gajuwaka stretch was included later, adding another 8.2 km.

The other corridors are from Gurudwara junction to One Town (5.5 km) and Tatichetlapalem to Park Hotel via University Road (7 km).

The DPRs include details of properties to be affected and widening of roads, if required, say sources. The cost per km of Metro Rail is estimated at Rs.206 crore, the sources add.
