Social and ‘green’ accounting must be introduced, says expert

There is a need for accounting professionals to look outside the profession and evolve to meet the requirements of emerging trends in business and industry, Chairman AP State Council of Higher Education L Venugopal Reddy said.

Speaking at the inaugural of the two-day All India Accounting Conference and International Seminar on Accounting Education and research organised by the Department of Commerce and Management Studies, Andhra University here on Saturday, he said that accounting education needs a new and reoriented focus in the wake of globalisation and technologically driven society. Social accounting, ‘green’ accounting and other new dimensions should be introduced, he added. President Indian Accounting Association K.Sasi Kumar and Chairman and Managing Director Visakhapatnam Steel Plant P.Madhusudhan were among others who spoke.
