May Day was celebrated under the aegis of trade unions at various places in the city and at RINL on Friday.

A tableau was taken out by the workers under the auspices of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) from Jagadamba to TSR Complex. The participants raised slogans hailing May Day and denouncing the BJP and TDP governments for their anti-worker policies. CITU State vice president Ch. Narasinga Rao and district leader V.S. Padmanabha Raju were among those who spoke.

A rally was taken out by the Indian Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU). CPI State assistant secretary J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy called upon the workers to participate in the ‘jail bharo’ programme being organised on May 14 to protest against the anti-labour policies of the Centre.

CPI leaders A.J. Stalin, Ch. Raghavendra Rao, A. Vimala, M. Pydiraju, Markandeyulu and JD Naidu were among those participated.

At ECoR

May Day was celebrated by the East Coast Railway Shramik Union (E Co RSU) on Friday.

Union president Ch. Gandhi recalled the significance of the day as a symbol of revolution and struggle. He said that the present NDA and UPA government in the past had adopted anti-labour policies like privatisation and out sourcing of employees. He said that ECoRSU and AIRF would never let down the workers.

Mr. Gandhi flayed the State government for ignoring the Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS) in the presentation of ‘Shrama shakti’ awards.

Union working president D. Shaleel and divisional coordinator Vedula Narasinga Rao were present.

RINL

At RINL, Chairman and Managing Director P. Madhusudhan said that the company always took measures for the wellbeing of its work force despite facing severe financial constraints and complimented the employees of the company for contributing for the growth of the organisation with their competency and efficiency levels on the occasion.
