Mango mela’ is being held in the city from Wednesday to Saturday at MVP Colony Rytu Bazaar, according to a note issued by the Department of Horticulture.

The ‘mela’ is being held to make the farmers avoid using calcium carbide for ripening the fruits and to make available such fruits to the consumers. Twenty five tons of mangoes of 10 varieties would be on sale at 10 counters at the ‘mela’. Twenty farmers from the district will sell their product.

Tech help

Farmers will be provided technology to sell mangoes ripened without using calcium carbide and also granted discount on ethylene gas for ripening the fruits.
