Maggi samples test positive for MSG

June 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Two samples of Maggi noodles have tested positive for monosodium glutamate (MSG) in spite of the label declaration that it has no added MSG.

Officials of the GVMC have issued notices to the maker and supplier of the product, Nestle India, under the Food Safety Standards Act, 2006.

The two samples — Maggi Masala and Maggi Veg Atta — have been confirmed as “misbranded” by the State Food Laboratory, Hyderabad.

Three food inspectors of the GVMC have collected 20 samples during May and June and results of the other 18 samples are awaited.

An official release said that the two samples were collected from Sai Pujitha Enterprises of Visalakshinagar.
