‘People should accept the recommendations'

January 07, 2011 03:38 pm | Updated October 13, 2016 05:43 pm IST - VIZIANAGARAM:

Union Minister of State for Human Resources D. Purandeswari has said that the Government of India will go through the Justice Srikrishna Committee report on Telangana statehood issue and announce its decision. She appealed to people to abide by the government decision.

When correspondents asked about her comment on the report, the Union Minister of State said that she had not seen the report.

However, the Union Minister, who was here to participate in the District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting on Thursday, suggested people to accept the committee's recommendations.

Lok Sabha member from Vizianagaram Botcha Jhansi Lakshmi said that she had already expressed her opinion before the committee in the past that there should not be regional imbalances, particularly with regard to development, and hoped that people in the State would accept the committee's report.

When contacted, Superintendent of Police Navin Gulati said that the entire district remained peaceful throughout the day and as a precautionary measure special police teams were kept at vulnerable points in the district.
