‘Amma pilupu' to reform Maoists

As part of the Gandhian policing to bring a change in Maoists and make them shun violence, Additional Superintendent of Police Ake Ravi Krishna launched a programme ‘Amma pilupu' on Thursday.

‘Amma pilipu' would reveal the mental agony being experienced by the parents of Maoists. In the programme the parents would give a call to their children to leave the path of violence and join the mainstream, said Mr. Ravi Krishna. “Amma pilupu is an affectionate call to Maoists to understand the agony of their mothers,” he said.

Mr. Ravi Krishna launched the programme at Kommangi village with a community lunch and interacted with the locals. An underground cadre Ravi is a native of the village and the ASP met his parents.

Along with ‘Amma pilipu', an exercise to improve relations with the villagers was also launched. Mr. Ravi Krishna along with some police officers and men also went to Gandalaveedhi, Rowrintada and Sudimetta villages, all under Kommangi panchayat, to interact with the locals and enquire about their problems. They noted down the problems being faced by the villagers and the same would be taken up with the departments concerned. The ASP and others walked for 25 km covering the villages.

Mr. Ravi Krishna thanked Inspector S. Tata Rao, Sub-Inspector J. Srinivasa Rao, CRPF and police personnel for conducting the programmes.
