A low pressure area has formed over East Central Bay of Bengal and it is likely to concentrate into a depression and move towards North Andhra-South Odisha coasts and cross the coast by September 20, weathermen have said.

“Under the influence of it, they said, isolated heavy rain is very likely to occur in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, East and West Godavari and Krishna district, while the coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema may experience thunderstorms associated with lightning on Wednesday,” the IMD officials said, adding that the condition may prevail for two more days.

The southwest monsoon has been active over Rayalaseema and normal over coastal Andhra Pradesh. Several areas across the State received rainfall on Tuesday. In the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday, Mentada in Vizianagaram district recorded 6 cm of rainfall, the highest in the State. In Rayalaseema, Dharmavaram, Kambadur and Anantpur received a rainfall of 6 cm each.
