Landscapes, human emotions, nature and floral themes dominated the two-day annual exhibition-cum-sale called Art Works that took off on Saturday at Lords, WelcomHotel Grand Bay. In all, 33 artists, many of them amateurs, have displayed their works at the show. This year, two Intermediate students have also put up them works at the show along with others.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain, Flag Officer Commmanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, and Devina Jain, president, Naval Wives Welfare Association (E/R).

The annual show is curated by artist Jumana Topiwala. She started this initiative nearly two decades ago to give a platform for her students to showcase their works. “Art shows not only provide a scope for budding artists to connect with art connoisseurs, it also helps to foster a market for art in the city. While Visakhapatnam still has a long way to go in catching up with cities like Hyderabad in art, there is a lot of creative talent in the city that yearns for suitable spaces to display art. The exhibition is a small step towards giving the local artists the much required boost,” said Ms Topiwala.

The exhibition presents a plethora of options that are inspired art works as well as some original works. Pastels, acrylic, water colours and etchings are some of the mediums explored by the participants of the art show. The exhibition will be open for visitors on September 22 from 10.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.
