Legislative Council team visits GITAM University


AP Legislative Council Chairman A. Chakrapani, Deputy Chairman KV Satish Kumar Reddy and their team visited GITAM University on Monday.

The team was here to visit the Hudhud-affected areas in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts.

The team members held a meeting with GITAM University Vice Chancellor G. Subrahmanyam, Pro Vice Chancellor D. Harinarayana.

Prof. Subrahamanyam detailed the trail of destruction left by the Hudhud cyclone in the three North Andhra districts.


He said that the teaching and non-teaching staff of GU had contributed Rs.50 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for undertaking relief measures. The GITAM Alumni Association of North America (GANAM) had contributed Rs.1 crore towards Hudhud relief and the Tenneti Park was adopted for development with that amount.

Council Chairman Chakrapani appreciated the courage of the citizens in braving the very severe cyclonic storm.

The team went round an exhibition of photographs, put up by the university, on the cyclone damage.

GITAM Institute of Management Principal K. Sivaramakrishna, Institute of Technology Principal K. Lakshmi Prasad, Institute of Pharmacy Principal S. Ganapathi, Institute of Science Principal N. Lakshman Das, Director of GITAM School of International Business VK Kumar and Director of GITAM School of Law Y. Satyanarayana were among those who were present.
