Now, laundry and dry cleaning, and delivery of clothes will be done within 24 hours with a youngster introducing an online service for the facility for the first time in the city.

Drawing inspiration from the success story of the startup —www.dhobiservice.in— in Mysuru and Bengaluru, Durga Prasad, an MBA graduate, who quit his job in Infosys, has taken up the franchisee of Dhobi Laundry Services.

“Instead of working as an executive in an IT company, I thought let me become an entrepreneur and help in creating jobs for many youths,” he told The Hindu .

“We offer family package as well as separate schemes for hotels, hospitals, and other big clients. Our boys and girls, on receiving a request online, will pick up the clothes at the time preferred by the clients and deliver them within 24 hours in eco-friendly bags,” said Mr. Durga Prasad.

Mr. Durga Prasad has so far invested Rs.20 lakh on procuring five washing machines, each with a capacity of five tonne, pressing machines, and four delivery vans. The workshop is located at Madhurawada. “Washing will be done in a hygienic manner without any damage to the clothes. This will be our USP,” Mr. Prasad says. The service will be launched on a regular basis within a week, he adds.

Customers have to pay a yearly subscription of Rs.4,000 for the firm to undertake washing and pressing of 350 pairs of clothes during the year.

“On an average, we charge Rs.11.45 per pair. It costs Rs.20 to Rs.30 if done outside,” he says.
