Last-minute extension of train causing agony to passengers

The last-minute extension of 06579/80 Visakhapatnam-Yesvantapur-Visakhapatnam train is causing agony to rail users from Vizag.

To add fuel to the fire, other trains with poor patronage are being extended and information on their extension was being given much before their last run.

Like on previous occasions, rail users took to Twitter a week ago seeking extension of 06579/80, which has its last run on Feb 28 but there is no word on its extension by the railways.

Rail users say last-minute extension was preventing them from booking their tickets on this train. They are demanding regularisation of this popular train.

Pandit K. Damodar Rao, A-grade artist of All India Radio from Bhopal, was dismayed at the attitude of a private airlne staff during his recent visit to the city from Jaipur via Hyderabad.

Pandit Rao was to accompany his daughter K. Vani Rao in her Hindustani vocal concert held at Kalabharati on Feb. 16. When he opened his harmonium box barely a few hours before the concert, he found the harmonium completely damaged, beyond repair.

He travelled along with his family members by the private airlne flight.

When he checked- in the harmonium at Jaipur Airport, it was duly tagged as ‘fragile’.

Though a complaint was registered with the airline over phone, nothing has been heard from their staff ever since.

The harmonium was an advanced scale-changer bought from Kolkata, Pandit Rao says.
