Kalam’s birth anniversary celebrated

Birth anniversary of former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was celebrated on Thursday. The day was also observed as International Students Day.

At Andhra University, Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju inaugurated the APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Park on the premises of AU College of Arts and Commerce that was developed by research scholar D.A. Naidu.

At a meeting organised by the Department of Political Science, Prof. Raju said Dr. Kalam would be remembered as a person who had always striven hard to convert the energy of youth into nation’s asset.

CII Young Indians (Yi) conducted a discussion with students of GITAM University on ‘Visioning for India’ on the occasion. Dean and Principal of GITAM Institute of Management K. Sivaramakrishna and chairman of Vijay Nirman Company S. Vijaya Kumar spoke.

Secretary and Correspondent of GVP Degree and PG Colleges D. Dakshina Murthy released a book titled, ‘Gandhian Communication’, written by HoD of English A. Sayibala, faculty member C.K. Abhishek, and research scholar of AU Y. Raghuraj on the occasion of International Students Day.
