‘Jagan politicising every issue’

October 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy is politicising every issue and he once again displayed his inexperience and inefficiency as Leader of Opposition by not coming out with constructive criticism, Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao said on the former’s visit to Bhogapuram on the airport issue on Monday.

“One can convince a person if he is in the know of things and explain if he does not know the issue. But Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy is in between the two and no one can convince him (on the need for the airport),” Mr. Srinivasa Rao told reporters and said that the airport would be built at Bhogapuram and there was no opposition to it.

The Minister insisted that the farmers of Bhogapuram area were being convinced about parting with their lands for the airport and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed the officials to understand what the farmers need and their demands. The government would like to know from farmers whether they agree for land acquisition or want land pooling or anything better, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said. On issuing show-cause notices to some faculty members of Andhra University for reportedly speaking against government at a programme organised by YSR Congress, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said he would not instruct the university on the disciplinary action to be taken. The university was an autonomous institution and would act according to its rules and regulations, the Minister said.
