Swaying to the tunes of Bollywood numbers and exhibiting a selection of paper crafts, children had a whale of time at the month-long summer camp that came to a close at SFS High School.
Presented jointly by Bayviz Welfare and Cultural Society (BWCS) and Tiny Jewels Summer Fun, the fun-filled summer camp that began on April 27 included activities such as dancing, singing, painting and art and craft.
The little ones, all aged between four and 12 years, say that the avenue offered them an opportunity to channelise their creativity, opening the doors to a different world. If making new friends and having fun fascinated some, adding colour to their artwork charmed others. “Apart from dancing, I love craftworks. The camp helped us do wonders using paper, sand, paper cups and chart papers as the medium,” says Monisha, a participant in the camp.
Guitar classes
Crocodile, penguin and a variety of paper crafts were exhibited by the students as part of the concluding day of the camp.
Guitar player Royal trained the participants in guitar classes whereas western dance was taught by choreographer Mani Sekhar. Celene Griffiths trained the students in craftworks and public speaking.
After conducting a youth camp involving 100 participants recently, BWCS rolled out its summer camp last month. “Summer holidays are the best time to venture into a new world of creativity.
The key reason for presenting the camp for the fourth consecutive year is to train the young minds in artworks and allow them to unbundle their talent,” say Rudy Gallyot and Helen Howell, president and secretary of the society.
