Daily wage workers of ITDA residential school in Visakha Agency held a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Monday demanding payment of wages due to them for the last three months.

The 300 daily wage workers and 300 temporary workers who are working at the hostels for the last 30 years were not paid regularly and though the State Government decided to regularise them during 2008, this had not happened, district secretary of CITU S. Ramesh and secretary R. Sankara Rao said. Only Rs. 75 per day is the wage paid to the daily wage worker which was also not being paid regularly. Nearly 40 workers died while working at the hostels but the Tribal Welfare Minister of the administration was not bothered about them, alleged ITDA Workers Union. A memorandum was submitted to the Collector with a list of demands of the workers.
