Coconut farmers from S. Rayavaram are not getting remunerative price, says BJP MLC P.V.N. Madhav.

The pressing issues identified during the 15-day Gandhi Sankalp Yatra will be addressed, BJP MLC P.V.N. Madhav has said.

“Since the beginning of the yatra nine days ago, we have came across several problems. At Payakaraopeta, weavers are facing hardships and coconut farmers from S. Rayavaram are not getting remunerative price when compared to that of their counterparts in East Godavari,” Mr. Madhav told the media here on Thursday.

‘Road in a bad shape’

The Siva temple at Panchadarla is languishing in a state of neglect and the Achyutapuram-Anakapalle road is also in a bad shape. The plight of jaggery farmers and the condition of the steel plant as represented by the workers at Kurmannapalem and pollution in the city were among the other major issues, the MLC pointed out.

The Gandhi Sankalp Yatra was launched following the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that all people’s representatives of the BJP should spread the messages of ‘swadesi’, cleanliness and mass production by hard working people in the face of populist measures and domination of imports.

The yatra began from Payakaraopeta and on the ninth day on Thursday, Visakhapatnam North constituency was covered. In the North constituency, the yatra team was welcomed by former BJP MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju and other leaders. On Friday, Visakhapatnam South constituency would be covered.

Mr. Madhav said the yatra would conclude at Bheemili on October 30 and BJP national secretary Y. Satya Kumar would take part in the valedictory.

Victory hailed

Mr. Madhav and Mr. Raju hailed the victory of the party in the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana. They exuded confidence that the BJP would form government in Haryana.

Former Vice-Chancellor Y.C. Simhadri, Thota Nagesh, former MLA Satyanaryaan Reddy and Samba Murthy were among those accompanying Mr. Madhav in the yatra.
