The Rajendranagar Park site has become a misnomer. Let alone being a park, it has turned into a health hazard.
The park site is located in the heart of the city abutting the main road linking Gurudwara and Dwarakanagar.
While a part of the site has been turned into a makeshift playground by children of the area, the other half presents a sorry sight with garbage, plastic, and biomedical waste strewn around.
One corner of the park has become a parking lot for garbage bins of the GVMC. The public toilet in the corner has gone to seed and badly requires attention.
Haven for pigs
The storm-water drain that passes through the park has turned into a happy haven for pigs. It is clogged with plastic waste and garbage.
It is surprising that pigs and piglets have found their way into the park and escaped the attention of municipal staff, who are supposed to make rounds in the areas assigned to them and deal with such a menace.
Pigs are a potential health hazard and could cause Japanese Encephalitis.
The GVMC has to seek police help to employ shooters to kill the pigs.
Unless the menace is dealt with sternly, the neighbourhood stands exposed.
