‘Improve facilities at juvenile homes’

Extending support to Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Bill 2014 in the Lok Sabha, Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao urged the Government to improve the conditions in juvenile homes.

Noting with alarm the increase in incidence of crimes by juveniles in conflict with law, he extended his support to the Bill that seeks to try 16 to 18 year old accused of heinous crimes as adults.

He drew attention of the House to the pathetic conditions prevailing at juvenile homes. He called for concerted efforts to bring down violence in the juvenile homes and sought installation of CCTV cameras, perimeter cordon at juvenile homes.

He suggested that inmates with serious behavioural issues be shifted to a separate facility, according to a release issued here by the MP’s office.
