Narsipatnam Town Police Station has got an Integrated Surveillance Patrolling and Response Centre (I-SPARC) which will bring all major police operations under one roof. This is the second centre after the one set up in Anakapalle Town region.

The I-SPARC will help check crimes and ensure immediate response to the people in distress. The system that works on the lines of Command and Control Centre (CCC) deals with surveillance, patrolling and response. As a pilot project, I-SPARC was launched at Anakapalle Town police station on February 9 and is yielding good results.

24X7 patrolling

“I-SPARC covers all major police operations. It ensures round-the-clock surveillance with the help of policemen and CCTVs installed in the region. Bluecolts teams will undertake patrolling. The centre will also receive calls from ‘Dial 100’ helpline and ensure earliest response as the nearest patrolling teams will be assigned to the task at hand,” Visakhapatnam Rural Superintendent of Police Attada Babujee said.

According to ASP Narsipatnam Areef Hafeez, Narsipatnam will be divided into five sectors. For each sector, six policemen (Bluecolts team with new jackets) will be deputed on bikes and they would work in shifts round the clock.

“Three sub-inspectors will monitor the functioning of I-SPARC from the command and control room with a technical team who would receive phone calls and forward those to the personnel on field,” Mr. Areef explained. The I-SPARC will also monitor police operations including those related to Locked House Monitoring System (LHMS), suspicious movements and prevention of crime.

Expansion plan

According to police, Anakapalle and Narsipatnam regions register more crimes, especially property offences and the I-SPARC can help bring down such offences. I-SPARC centres will be set up in the other regions soon, the police added.
