Human skeletal remains on Kailasagiri shock tourists

Police suspect it is a case of suicide

Tourists who visited Kailasagiri Hill on Wednesday were in for a shock after they discovered the human skeletal remains atop the hill, which is one of the most sought after tourist spots in the city.

A team from Arilova Police Station rushed to the spot on receiving the information and collected the remains.

According to Circle Inspector of Arilova Police Station B Ashok Kumar, remains were found in a highly decomposed state with some rotten flesh still sticking on to the bones.

“As per the preliminary investigation, we think it was a case of suicide and the man would have used his ‘lungi’ to end his life by hanging himself from a tree. The head seems to have severed from the torso and thereafter wild animals such as hyenas and wild dogs appear to have feasted on the body,” said the inspector.

The incident appears to have happened a few weeks ago and still a part of the ‘lungi’ is tied to the tree, said Mr. Ashok.

He said that all the bones were being packed and sent to forensic laboratory and a case under IPC Section 144 was registered.

Kailasagiri Hill that abuts Beach Road is lush with trees and wild growth and is home to many animals such as jackals, wild dogs and hyenas.
