4,000 kgs of gutka seized in raid

In a joint operation, personnel from the City Task Force (CTF) and Food and Safety Department raided two areas under the police commissionerate and seized over 4,000 kgs of the banned gutkha, here on Wednesday. The CTF team led by ACP I. Chittibabu and Inspector Mallilarjun Rao conducted surprise raids at unauthorised warehouses located at Keetinpeta, Bheemunipatnam mandal and near Chaluva Thota, Allipuram in the city.

At Keetinpeta, the CTF team seized 2,097 kg of the banned stuff and arrested two persons Durga Murali and Vudikala Pothuraju. At Chaluva Thota the raiding team seized around 2,102 kgs of gutkha and arrested Inakoti Kondalarao and Penumalla Suresh, for trading the product.

The seized stuff is estimated to be over Rs. 16 lakh in the retail market, said ACP Chittibabu.
