Hearing impaired persons, including many women, staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Monday, seeking the government to implement the three per cent reservation for them in jobs.

The hapless hearing impaired men and women were facing a lot of problems due to lack of employment in spite of securing degrees and other qualifications, said coordinator of the District Association of Deaf. The dharna was addressed by some among them and outsiders. The speeches were through sign language and the dharna participants displayed placards explaining their demands. The speeches of those who could speak were converted into sign language by Mr. Chandrasekhar, to be understood by the hearing impaired.

Later Joint Collector M. Girija Shankar met them at the dharna venue and assured that their demand would be conveyed to the Government.
