GVMC budget proposals approved

Engineering works get lion’s share

Collector and Special Officer of GVMC Pravin Kumar on Saturday approved the budget proposals of the municipal corporation for the financial year 2018-19. Municipal Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan was also present. Additional Commissioner (Finance) S.S. Varma made a presentation on the budget proposals.

Additional commissioners G.V.V.S. Murthy and Sakala Reddy participated.

The budget estimates a revenue of ₹.3119.68 crore and puts expenditure at ₹ 3292.96 crore. With an opening balance of ₹.252.63 crore, the closing balance is projected at ₹.79.35 crore.

Engineering works get the top allocation of ₹.955.26 crore, followed by public health (₹.377.11 crore) while Urban Community Development projects get ₹.157.56 crore, lighting ₹.120.23 crore and education ₹.31.92 crore.

Urban mission

Externally-aided projects account for ₹435 crore and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation for ₹228.34 crore.

The Collector later visited the Command and Control Centre being developed at GVMC.
