Gurudwara former secretary refutes charges

October 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The tranquil atmosphere at Gurudwara Sadh Sangat was disturbed due to the ‘high-handed’ behaviour of some former leaders of the management committee in the past who wanted to treat the Gurudwara property as their own, alleged former secretary of Gurudwara Sadh Sangat Balvinder Singh Khatra.

At a media conference here on Monday, Mr. Balvinder refuted the charges levelled against him by ad-hoc committee spokesman S. Satinder Singh Sethi.

Mr. Balvinder alleged that personal rivalry was responsible for the sorry state of affairs. “We had locked two rooms and opened one room and there was no truth in their allegation that we had broken the locks or the CC camera,” he said.

He said that in 1981, there was only Sadh Sangat Trust but there was no registration in the name of Gurudwara Sadh Sangat Trust as was being claimed by Mr. Satinder Singh. Mr. Balvinder said that he as secretary of Gurdwara Sadh Sangat from 2004 to February, 2015 or Mr. Satinder, who served before him as secretary from 2000 to 2004 had never represented the Gurudwara Sadh Sangat as Gurudwara Sadh Sangat Trust in their communication with different agencies.

They both had represented the business of the office of the Gurudwara without any registration.
