A delegation from the Andhra Pradesh Un-Aided Schools Managements Association (APUSMA), led by its president A. Krishna Reddy, submitted a memorandum to HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Sunday, asking him to reduce the grading marks for English subject from 92 to 90, in the tenth class examination under the State board.

The grading system was introduced in 2012, and the A-1 grade for English was set at 92 marks. In the year 2013, only 0.25 per cent could secure the A-1 grade. And in 2014, out of 10.5 lakh students, in unified AP, who passed the examination only 0.48 per cent could get the A-1 grade. “Keeping this mind, we approached the Minister to reduce the grade by another 2 marks and hold it on par with CBSE. Once it is reduced many more students, especially from rural background will be able to qualify for the A-1 grade,” said Mr. Krishna Reddy.
