Students from a number of schools, accompanied by NSS volunteers from colleges, walked down the Beach Road on Saturday to underscore the importance of walking for maintaining good health.
The walk, organised jointly by Visakha HRIDAY SHAN, Public Health Foundation of India, HRIDAY, and World Heart Federation, was flagged off in the afternoon from the Kali Matha temple by current World Artistic Skating Champion Anup Kumar Yama.
The enthusiastic students kept the volunteers, who were trying to control the traffic and maintain order, on their toes.
Prior to flagging off the event, the students were treated to a visual delight of the Navy personnel carrying out their rehearsals for the Navy Day celebrations.
The walk concluded at VUDA Park, where the children were treated to a breathtaking display of artistic skating by Anup Kumar. The students were urged to walk to maintain their health and stay away from unhealthy habits such as tobacco and alcohol.
