Get set to savour Odia delicacies

Food lovers will get a wonderful opportunity to relish the famed street food of Odisha under one platform in a hygienic environment on Wednesday.

As part of Utkal Divas, the formation day of Odisha, Utkal Sanskrutika Samaj will conduct an Odia food festival at Sri Jagannath temple complex on Daspalla Hills. Twelve stalls will be opened in which the members will dish out various items.

Some of the offerings made to Lord Jagannath in Puri will be served.

These items will be either brought from Odisha or prepared at home and sold at cost price to the visitors.

Utkal Sanskrutika Samaj cultural secretary Seema Misra told The Hindu on Monday that Odisha was not only famous for its rich culture and architectural heritage but also for its tongue-tickling delicacies. At Sri Jagannath temple of Puri, 56 varieties of food are prepared everyday and offered to Lord Jagannath. She said they would showcase different varieties of Odia food to popularise their cuisine in the city.Street food

Popular street food as well as authentic Odia pitha and meetha (traditional sweets) will be served.

To name a few, combination food Dahibara and Aloo dum, Aloo chop-Ghuguni and Pakudi-Tarkari will be available.

Another famous combination food of Puri, Chudaghasha and Dalma will definitely satisfy the taste buds.

Apart from authentic Pitha like Chenna Kakara, Poda pitha will be available in different stalls. Snacks like vegetable chop, Piyajee and Aloo Chop will be served hot on-the-spot. Popular sweets of Odisha like Rasagolla, Chhena Poda and Rasabali will be available.
