Flotilla awards presented

Immediate Support Vessel, ISV T-37, was awarded the ‘Best ISV’ trophy and the Gaj group bagged the ‘Sports’ trophy at the annual Flotilla Awards Ceremony for 2014-15 at the Sailors Institute.

The Technical’ trophy was awarded to INS Kozhikode. INS Cannanore bagged the ‘Most Spirited Ship’ trophy and the ‘Best Ship’ and ‘Weapons Trophy’ was bagged by INS Cuddalore.

Naval Officer-in-Charge, Andhra Pradesh, Commodore K.A. Bopanna, who was the chief guest, highlighted the importance of keeping the ships in highest operational state at all times. He also underlined the dynamic security situation in the region and the need for maintaining a strict vigil.

During the function on Friday night, the operational activities undertaken by the Local Flotilla during last year were highlighted.

With cutting edge Mine Hunting Technology, the deployment procedure of the Mine Counter Measure (MCM) ships have seen great changes.

In the last one year, the induction of ISVs has enhanced the capability of the Flotilla in undertaking Defence of coastal and offshore assets.

The event is to encourage and inculcate professionalism among personnel of the Flotilla.
