Police suspect extra-martial affairs behind the murder

A young man was allegedly murdered at Valluru village under Anakapalle rural police station in the early hours of Thursday. Y. Demudu (35), a farmer, slept on a cot in front of his house in view of power cut and the sultry weather on Wednesday night.

His rivals attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon and slit his throat. They also beat him on the head with an iron rod. They escaped when an old woman woke up and raised an alarm.

Demudu was shifted to a private hospital at Anakapalle, where he was declared ‘brought dead’. While his relatives claim that Demudu had some disputes with a rival family over farm land, the police suspect his extra-marital affairs could have led to the murder. Demudu is survived by two wives and three children. His body was sent to Anakapalle Government Hospital for post-mortem. Rural Inspector R. Govind Rao is investigating the case.
