Fair price shop (ration shop) dealers in the city and district have announced their decision to go on strike from May 25 if the government fails to address their problems by that time.

In a memorandum to the District Collector, the FP Shop Dealers’ Welfare Association leaders T. Jayaraj and S. Venkata Rao wondered as to how the dealers could be asked to provide 100 per cent correct weight of various commodities through e-weighment while they were not getting the stock at correct weight from the collection (lifting) points.

They alleged that dealers who were using e-pass machines were being forced to open shops at odd hours and on weekend holidays.

The dealers are also protesting against G.O. 35 and introduction of ‘portability’, which would hit the commission of the dealers.
