Imparting the right type of education based on the great spiritual and cultural traditions of the country is necessary for shaping the character of students and making them the builders of modern India, said noted scholar and Advisor to Government on Culture Chaganti Koteswara Rao on Saturday.

A former student of Mrs. A.V.N. College, Mr. Rao gave a talk after he was felicitated by his classmates and the management, staff and students of the college here.

He said it was a matter of great honour for him to have studied in the college, the oldest in the city, established more than 150 years ago, and graduated from the college in 1978 as a student of B.Com.

“To be felicitated at my alma mater, by my old friends and classmates, is the most poignant moment of my life, and I accept it in all humility,” he said. VSP Cirman-cum-Managing Director P. Madhusudan described Mr. Koteswara Rao as a “great propagator of the ancient values of the country.
