‘Digital revolution impacted education’

Founder-Chairman of Infotech and Chairman, Board of Governors of IIT-H, B.V.R. Mohan Reddy has said digital revolution impacted highly on education. The revolution in telecommunications made computers faster, cheaper and smaller and teachers were facing challenges of pedagogy and methodology, he said inaugurating a workshop for college teachers organised by Society for Integrated Development and Research in collaboration with Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College and Prism College on Monday.

In his keynote address president of Centre for Policy Studies A. Prasanna Kumar wanted teachers to answer for themselves ‘Why, how, what and whom’ of teaching. ‘Education is about human values and about human society,’ he added.

The inaugural meeting was organised at Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College of Engineering for Women.

Chairman of SIDAR K.C. Reddy said the nascent SIDAR should focus, in course of time, on issues like education, environmental pollution, civic amenities and governance at micro and macro-level.

Former Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University V. Balamohandas initiated the first session on the topic the qualities of a good teacher.

Secretary and correspondent of Bullayya College G. Madhu Kumar, SIDAR treasurer H.L.N. Dora and joint secretary T. Satyanarayana Reddy spoke in the inaugural.
